Essential Responsibilities 
  • Responsible for all purchasing activities relating to quality, cost, and schedule for assigned commodities.  As a senior buyer these commodities and Supplier portfolios tend to be larger in scope and complexity
  • Explore available technology and implement best practices related to purchasing activities
  • Lead cross-functional sourcing teams to execute agreed upon purchasing strategies for assigned commodities
  • Negotiate and implement supplier agreements, including Non Disclosure Agreements, Statement of Works, Basic Procurement Agreements, and Terms & Conditions
  • Effectively interact cross-functionally with Quality, Manufacturing Engineering, Engineering, Production, Finance, Materials, CSG (Customer Service Group), Bids & Proposals and other Departments
  • Proactively engage with key suppliers to ensure that supplier capabilities and products meet the current and future requirements of the organization
  • Produce RFQs, competitive bids, bid evaluations and purchase orders utilizing Cost Benefit Analysis
  • Evaluate and manage existing and potential suppliers based on the principles of Total Cost of Ownership
  • Ensure thorough understanding of and strict adherence to policies and procedures relating to the WESCAM Procurement department, overall WESCAM business policies and L3 Corporate policies and mandates
  • Assume an informal leadership position within the department, which includes assisting in the development of junior and intermediate buyers, summer interns and rotational assignments
  • Identify, create and manage special projects focused on enhancing key business processes within the primary functional area
  • Ensure complete flow down of customer contractual requirements into subcontract Terms & Conditions
  • Manage supplier recovery schedules to meet organization’s demand requirements
  • Evaluate and manage dual sourcing and outsourcing activities

Qualifications
  • University Degree/College Diploma in Business, Operations or Material Management
  • APICS CSCP designation
  • APICS CPIM designation or PMAC SCMP designation
  • 5+ years’ experience in a senior Supply Chain Management role
  • Competency using ERP, EDI and PLM software packages
  • Solid understanding of ERP/MRP and production planning principles
  • Proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and MS Project
  • Able to work in a high-pressure environment while maintaining strong sense of urgency and focus on customer service
  • A demonstrated dedication to results and continuous improvement within a team environment, including the use of Root Cause Corrective Action and Lean tools
  • Flexible and agile in attitude is a must, while still maintaining adherence to company policies and procedures
  • Excellent communication and negotiating skills
  • Effectively manage multiple competing priorities
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational and time management skills
  • Demonstrated understanding of MRP, inventory, and production principles
  • Proactive attitude with strong attention to detail
  • Initiative to investigate problems, develop solutions and obtain results
  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects / assignments requiring identification of objectives, resources and/or approaches
  • Proven ability in the development of people through sharing ideas, coaching and mentoring along with providing technical/process expertise and guidance
  • Initiative to investigate problems, develop solutions and obtain results
  • Working knowledge of the CGRP, USML, ITAR and Offsets
