Role:
We are looking for an experienced Integration & Test Engineer to join the team based in Bristol. You will be required to provide an integration/test and service engineering expertise for all aspects of product and systems, from software test and acceptance during product development through to commissioning and in service support.
Key Responsibilities:
- To provide a professional focus for all aspects of Integration and Test Engineering across a number of projects for both C&I and Platform Management Systems.
- To build, test and maintain system integration and acceptance testing facilities.
- To lead the preparation and issue of test documentation for the integration and test of products and systems.
- To lead formal acceptance tests in accordance with relevant procedures, record results, and raise any snags or deficiencies as required. Also participate in test readiness & wash up meetings as required.
- To lead in the installation, test, commissioning and acceptance of equipment, software and systems on board vessels, as required by the Company.
- Maintenance and configuration management of equipment and systems throughout installation, commissioning and in service support.
- Implementation of equipment modification work packages to meet project delivery milestones.
- To provide an effective and professional technical interface with the customer and to ensure that communications at the working level are maintained.
- To take responsibility for identifying and resolving technical issues identified during the conduct of test and support activities.
- To perform functions associated with the above, such as attending test readiness reviews and assisting with acceptance activities.
- To identify to the Project Engineer or Project Test/Service Lead, any potential problems in the engineering activities undertaken.
- To contribute as required and appropriate to the whole design lifecycle of products and systems including participation and contribution to requirements analysis, design reviews, stakeholder project and progress reviews.
- To provide the necessary set to work and commissioning support both ‘on board’ and ‘on site’ at non L3Harris locations, as required by the Project Engineer/Project Manager, including out of hours support where necessary.
- To undertake, upon request, the maintenance of any software and hardware tools in support of development environment.
- Produce qualification plans, functional test procedures and support Environment/EMC/Shock qualification of equipment including witness of testing at third party test houses
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
Minimum:
- HNC/HND in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Sotware, IT or related engineering discipline.
- 5-7 years minimum experience in an control system test & integration, installation, set to work/ commissioning or support environment.
- Knowledge of test environments and software acceptance methods.
- Good technical author skills and PC skills for documents, reports & spreadsheets
- 5-7 years minimum experience in an control system test & integration, installation, set to work/ commissioning or support environment.
- Good knowledge and sound understanding of Control & Instrumentation; preferably in marine, defence or offshore environments.
- Knowledge of structured test and acceptance processes & standards relative to the Military / Marine Installations
- PLC and distributed control system knowledge, preferably Siemens TIA portal.
- Good organisational and co-ordination skills.
- Good planning, communication skills written and verbal, ability to articulate technical issues to both non technical staff and to technical staff with different domain knowledge/responsibilities e.g. providing structured technical feedback to design engineering.
- Proven ability to work under pressure; meet tight deadlines, problem solving and executing duties while being observed by customer and user communities.
- Excellent PC skills (Excel, Word, Powerpoint, Project, Visio, DOORS, C&I databases / tools).
Advantageous:
- Understanding of bespoke computer based control system (full training provided).
- Experience of operation or maintenance of submarine or ship’s systems.
- Understanding of the requirements, processes and procedures for defence contracts.
- Knowledge of software development lifecycle.
- Siemens TIA Portal Service – training courses.
- Functional Safety Engineer (FS Eng) certification.
- Knowledge of simulation systems.
