Manufacturing Engineer
Intelligence & Cyber International (ICI)

We provide design, manufacture, integration and sustainment of advanced electronic warfare components and subsystems using cutting edge wideband radio frequency and photonic technology. We are a trusted, sovereign design and production partner to the Australian Department of Defence and an established exporter to global defence primes.
What the role will involve
To lead, plan, direct and grow the manufacturing engineering support function of L3Harris Micreo to ensure efficient and on-time delivery of high-quality electronics products, for use in the most demanding of applications, at the forefront of technological innovation.
Planning
- Actively collaborate with the Manufacturing Manager, Team Leaders for the Assembly and Technician teams, Laser Welders and Engineering to help maintain the production schedule
- Proactively contribute to identify resource or equipment bottlenecks, help formulate justifications and obtain quotes to assist the Manufacturing Manager to address resource issues or generate any Capex requests required for equipment
Management
- Actively assist manufacturing to ensure DIFOT (on-time delivery) metrics are achieved consistently for manufacturing and RMA deliveries.
- Actively participate in visual management techniques like LOB to take remedial action early to meet deadlines
- Actively oversee all manufacturing processes to ensure all manufacturing areas and processes are compliant to 5S+1, ESD/FOD and AS9100
- Manage various engineering projects in manufacturing with the cross-functional teams and deliver projects on time
- Lead, organise and conduct regular process review meeting such as ESD Control (P15-02) and FOD Control (P15-03)
Cost Control & Reporting
- Actively monitor project costs relating to new process or equipment introduction into manufacturing and identify potential cost overruns early and take action
- Timely reporting of issues, potential delays and risks to the Manufacturing Manager
New Product Introduction (NPI)
- Actively participate in and ensure appropriate manufacturing engineering analysis of all material relating to design reviews and Production Readiness Reviews for any new or redesigned products
- Support the Manufacturing team through coordination, collection and dissemination of information relating to new products and changes to existing products
Process and Equipment Implementation & Ownership
- Provide engineering solutions to manufacturing teams in timely manner
- Enthusiastically develop and implement new and support existing manufacturing processes and equipment through formally documented V&V procedures
- Proactively manage the ESD Control Program (P15-02) and FOD Control Program (P15-03) in compliance with the latest associated standards/guidance material, relevant customer-specific requirements and standard L3Harris Micreo procedures
- Develop, maintain and verify Special Processes in accordance with AS9100 quality controls, ensuring all records are up to date
- Proactively assist the Manufacturing team to repair and maintain equipment to eliminate any down-time and identify single points of failure or ageing equipment
- Ownership of manufacturing Total Preventative Maintenance (TPM)
Calibration, Maintenance & Repair
- Actively collaborate with the Manufacturing team and Facilities to ensure all maintenance and calibration is up-to-date, including all maintenance/critical process record logs
Training & Culture
- Monitor internal processes and provide training to the manufacturing team, as required according to IPC-A-610 and IPC J-STD-001
- Actively collaborate with other L3Harris organisations to identify future manufacturing processes/equipment improvements and raise these with the Manufacturing Manager
What you’ll bring
To be successful in this role and to best leverage the opportunities provided by L3Harris, some skills & experience ideal applicants will bring include;
- Engineering degree or equivalent study (Process Engineering qualifications)
- Extensive experience in a similar role with electronic assembly/cleanroom environment
- Trained in or experience with IPC-A-610, IPC J-STD-001 and MIL-STD-883
- Understanding of and ability to read engineering drawings
- Ability to write technical documentation such as work instructions clearly
- Working knowledge of ERP systems and process automation
- Understanding of lean manufacturing and Six Sigma principles
- High attention to detail and a positive, assertive, ‘can do’ attitude
- Excellent communication and facilitation skills
- Problem solving skills
