Laser Welding Technician

Intelligence & Cyber International (ICI)

Eight Mile Plains, Brisbane

We provide design, manufacture, integration and sustainment of advanced electronic warfare components and subsystems using cutting edge wideband radio frequency and photonic technology. We are a trusted, sovereign design and production partner to the Australian Department of Defence and an established exporter to global defence primes.

About the role:

L3Harris Micreo are seeking an experienced laser welder to join our highly skilled production team.

Rotating Shift Hours - 7am – 3pm and 3pm – 11 pm.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out laser sealing and fine/gross leak testing of production and developmental assemblies using designated equipment and processes
  • Contribute to the development/improvement of processes in relation to laser sealing and fine/gross leak testing utilising relevant experience and knowledge
  • When required, carry out minor CNC machining related tasks, including de-lidding of sealed assemblies, and mechanical modifications to chassis/assemblies
  • Carry out assembly of production and developmental microwave hybrid chassis including installation of substrates and hermetic external connections using the reflow oven or hotplate
  • Assemble electronic assemblies or subassemblies as directed and in strict accordance with documented methods and processes
  • Assemble production jigs, accessories and prototype assemblies or subassemblies as directed/guided
  • Calibration and routine/preventative maintenance of the specialised equipment used during the manufacture of hybrid microwave integrated circuits, including (but not limited to) laser welding, fine/gross leak testing, vacuum systems, CNC machining, wire/ribbon bonding, gap welding, microscopy, reflow soldering, and hand soldering
  • Ensure appropriate PPE (half face reusable respirator, goggles, hazmat suit) is worn when replacing Lenium into the vapour degreaser chamber
  • Take part in design and manufacturing readiness reviews as required
  • Carry out routine maintenance and housekeeping of manufacturing infrastructure as directed
  • Participate and contribute to training programs
  • Manage implementation and adherence to Corporate Policies, Ethical Standards, Security, Trade Compliance (ITAR) and customer requirements.
  • Responsible to ensure that tracking and accounting of hardware in the factory are performed regularly to meet Trade Compliance requirements

Skills and Experience:

  • Relevant trade exposure to CNC Machining
  • Relevant experience in laser welding process
  • Understanding of physics and metallurgy
  • Completion of Year 12 (Senior Certificate) or a combination of equivalent experience and/or education and training
  • 3-5years experience in hand assembly to component level of electronics
  • Manual dexterity
  • Precise motor skills
  • Ability to perform work under a microscope
  • Ability to read technical instructions and drawings
  • Ability to use computers to locate and view documents
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Accuracy, thoroughness, persistence and attention to detail
  • Ability to handle small and delicate parts
