Job Description:
As a Navigation Scientist and Senior Member of the Technical Team, you will be responsible for the planning, development, design, execution, test, and guidance for Navigation Engineering in Global Positioning Systems and other Position, Navigation and Timing technology on real-time HW/SW applications on DoD programs. Must be able to work closely with the customer and other engineering disciplines. Must have broad-based technical knowledge and experience to understand and evaluate systems engineering activities across the engineering functions. Must have demonstrated practical industry depth and on-hands senior expertise in Navigation.
Essential Functions:
Serve as Designer/Innovator for Navigation and will be expected to survey technology, identify candidate techniques, model and evaluate viability, write IRAD proposals and plans, presents papers, and provide senior technical direction.
Work under consultative direction against annual goals and objectives to manage large, complex project initiatives of strategic importance to the organization.
Partner with the Business Development and Leadership Team to advance market footprint consistent with the projected business plan.
Develop and champion new Navigation systems concepts and technologies, and recommend tactics and strategies that directly impact the achievement of overall business or functional results.
Provide technical leadership to a team of engineers that includes leading the execution of design, build, integration and test activities, problem resolution and verifying that the deliverable products meet all program and customer requirements.
Provide project management reports and support senior level reviews.
Provide inputs and reviews of the engineering technical baseline as part of proposal efforts.
Provide guidance, coaching and training to other employees.
Provide input to industry standards.
Recognized as a Navigation industry expert.
Qualifications:
Position requires a Bachelor degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) or related discipline with minimum 12 years or a graduate degree with a minimum of 10 years prior relevant experience (15+ years desired).
12+ years in GPS / PNT technology.
12+ years in GPS receiver RF and digital electrical hardware development and integration, or equivalent experience with RF systems.
Experience in GPS-denied/degraded, Alternative/Supplemental/Cooperative Navigation technology.
Demonstrated knowledge of Navigation Systems Architectures and techniques, GPS, GNSS, Kalman Filtering, Adaptive Filtering.
Demonstrated knowledge of GPS/GPS Navigation Subsystem requirements, design, algorithms or performance analysis.
Active DoD SECRET or higher security clearance.
Additional Preferred Skills:
Additional demonstrated knowledge of RF signal processing, GPS receiver design, ASIC and FPGA design, and Software desired.
Work effectively in both independent and team environments.
Must have strong verbal and written communication skills.
