Job Description:

As a key Senior Member of the Engineering Technical and Management Team, this position is responsible for the Functional Management of the ASIC Engineering Department (4860) which is in Navigation Solutions (NS) at L3Harris in Anaheim, CA. Navigation Solutions products provide advanced military GPS and other Position, Navigation, Timing (PNT) capabilities in military embedded real-time systems and can be used in weapons, ground, airborne, maritime, and space environments.

Essential Functions:

  • Lead, direct, and review the work of senior Engineering professionals.
  • Communicate within and outside own function to explain and gain cooperation on architectures, policies and practices.
  • Make moderate to substantial improvements to architectures, processes, systems, and solutions.
  • Plan and establish goals and objectives for a team with direct impact on the short-term and long-term operational results for the department.
  • Lead, direct, coach, and review the work of direct report(s) to accomplish near-term operational plans and results.
  • Provide input on hiring, firing, promotion, performance and/or compensation decisions for own organization.
  • Work under consultative direction against annual goals and objectives to manage large, complex project initiatives of the highest strategic importance to the organization.
  • Maintain outstanding communication with higher management and with the employees in the department.
  • Meet all programmatic and administrative suspenses.
  • Manage unit-assigned budgets and forecasts manpower obligations/needs.
  • Provide guidance to move the ASIC design team to embrace the latest in technology, tools and processes.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance

Basic Qualifications:

  • Position requires a Bachelors Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) or related discipline with minimum 12 years or a Graduate Degree with a minimum of 10 years prior relevant experience.
  • Experience with ASIC front-end design (RTL), ASIC verification, working with subcontracted physical design house and subcontracted fab required.
  • Experience with Cadence suite of ASIC development tools (Genus, Xcelium, Palladium Z1 accelerator) desired.
  • Experience as a cost account manager (CAM) overseeing a complex project and a team of 20 engineers required.
  • Experience with subcontract management required.
  • Experience with Globalfoundries 12LP technology desired.
  • Experience with direct customer interaction required.
  • Architecture knowledge of GPS ASIC signal processing and data processing used in a GPS/PNT Receiver including Navigation/Tracking/Acquisition, GPS Software and GPS receiver Hardware desired.
  • Prior experience leading/managing/tracking projects, proposals, processes, and employees as well as strong knowledge within the engineering discipline.
  • Experience leading diverse and inclusive cross-functional teams for successful completion of project objectives within stringent technical, schedule, and budget requirements.
  • Experience in earned value management, metrics development and tracking, basis of estimates, and technology road mapping.
  • Advanced EQ/EI experience.
  • Experience in GPS/PNT systems.

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Active DoD SECRET or higher security clearance desired.
  • Prior leadership experience in GPS/PNT and success leader and manager of senior level (L5, scientist, fellow) direct reports a plus.
  • 10-15 years of RTL design and verification experience targeting FPGA and ASIC.
  • Excellent decision making skills to bring chip design to fruition in a timely manner by working closely with systems department to include the required feature set.
  • Experience in signal processing is a plus.
  • Must have excellent verbal, written, and presentation communication skills.
  • Must work effectively in both independent and team environments.
