Job Description:

L3Harris, Military Displays, Systems engineering group located in Alpharetta, GA is looking for a candidate to work on testing of avionics products for various Military and Commercial Aviation platforms. The selected candidate will be involved with all phases of program delivery from requirement definitions, design, development, testing and manufacturing. As an Electromagnetic (EMI) and Environmental (ENV) Test Systems Engineer the candidate will help with the initial product testing, work with the customer on developing formal test specifications, EMI / ENV plans, procedures and reports, operate equipment and run both EMI / ENV tests in-house and at commercial test laboratories. Position will involve up to 15% - 25% travel to offsite customer, supplier, test laboratories and/or L3Harris locations.

Essential Functions:

  • Knowledgeable on MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-461, RTCA DO-160, ADS-37A, ABD0100, and other Environmental, EMI/EMC test standards
  • Perform test support to achieve Environmental and EMI design compliance.
  • Apply engineering principles to investigate, analyze, plan, design, test, and evaluate programs for Environmental and Electromagnetic Environmental Effects..
  • Create Test Plans, Test Procedures, Test Reports and other applicable documents such as analysis or mitigation reports..
  • Familiar with operating Thermal Chambers, Vibration Controllers, EMC test equipment, oscilloscope, spectrum analyzer, network analyzer, programmble power supplies, etc.
  • Direct Environmental / EMI testing activities and participate in Environmental / EMI related system and sub-system troubleshooting efforts.
  • Thermal, vibration, EMI data collection and analysis for reports.
  • Ability to represent system engineering artifacts at internal and external customer meetings and audits.
  • Proficiency with MS Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Project and Access)

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent and minimum 9 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience.
  • Experience working on an Integrated Product Team (IPT)
  • Ability to obtain a Security Clearance

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Experienced in LRU level integration of Hardware and Software elements.
  • Experienced in behavioral modeling/simulation (e.g. UML modeling with use-cases and sequence diagrams), peer reviews, configuration and change management.
  • In depth working knowledge of engineering tools for requirements capture (DOORS, JAMA etc.
  • Working knowledge of the commercial and military communications protocols (RS-232, ARINC 429, MIL-STD-1553, ARINC 664 (AFDX) and ARINC 818 (Fiber.
  • Understanding of manufacturing build, test, quality, and customer acceptance review processes
  • Ability to handle multiple task concurrently and with competing deadlines
  • Ability to work with little supervision
  • Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Comfortable in effectively interacting and communicating with Senior Engineering Management, Program Management, Business Development, and Finance.
  • Proven experience and understanding of requirements capture, systems design, and decomposition methods
