You will handle a broad spectrum of responsibilities, serving as the go-to expert for preventative maintenance, repairs, installations, and troubleshooting across mechanical, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, pneumatic, and cleanroom systems to ensure uninterrupted, safe, and efficient facility operations in a high-stakes aerospace setting. The ideal candidate thrives in a dynamic, mission-critical environment, demonstrating initiative, problem-solving prowess, and a commitment to excellence that minimizes downtime and supports seamless spacecraft processing.

Essential Functions:

  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance, repairs, and emergency interventions on facility equipment, including steam/hot water boilers, dehumidifiers, chillers, pumps, compressed air/pneumatic systems, electrical panels, wiring, circuits, lighting, and mechanical assemblies.
  • Conduct inspections of buildings, equipment, and systems, identifying potential issues before they impact operations.
  • Calibrate, maintain, and repair cleanroom-specific equipment such as HVAC units, HEPA filters, dehumidifiers, air handlers, desiccant dryers, pneumatic actuators, moisture/particulate filtration, and digital control systems.
  • Assist with contamination control and cleanroom operations, including routine cleaning, monitoring environmental parameters (e.g., temperature, humidity, particulate levels), inspections, audits, enforcing gowning procedures and protocols, and ensuring adherence to ISO standards and regulatory compliance.
  • Participate in the installation, modification, upgrade, and qualification of new systems and equipment, including electrical installations and integrations.
  • Maintain detailed records and documentation, including logs, work orders, purchase requisitions, and inventory for tools, spares, and supplies.
  • Operating and maintaining equipment such as forklifts, cranes, manlifts, and power tools (e.g., drills, saws, grinders).
  • Respond promptly to emergency maintenance requests, participating in on-call rotations and extended hours to maintain 24/7 facility readiness.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, operations, and other departments to meet customer requirements, resolve issues during payload processing, and provide technical updates as a customer interface.
  • Promote a collaborative team culture by demonstrating respect, sharing knowledge, contributing to effective work practices, and providing hands-on training to staff on cleanroom best practices, system operations, and safety protocols.
  • Ensure full compliance with safety regulations, building codes, OSHA guidelines, and environmental policies, while supporting a neat, clean, and comfortable work environment through proactive housekeeping.
  • Communicate routinely with team members about cleanroom operations, equipment status, and satellite processing, delivering accurate and timely information.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to convey information clearly and concisely.
  • Proficiency in reading, understanding, and applying Standard Operating Procedures, electrical drawings, and mechanical schematics.
  • Ability to supervise contractors and vendors effectively.
  • Physical capability to navigate job sites, including walking, climbing, lifting up to 45 lbs., and working at heights.

Qualifications:

  • Active TS/SCI security clearance or eligibility to obtain one.
  • Must be able to obtain a DoD Common Access Card (CAC).
  • Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience or 2 years post-Secondary/Associate’s Degree with a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience.

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • 2+ years of experience in ISO Class 7 cleanroom environments.
  • Extensive background in HVAC systems (including control sequences), electrical systems (wiring, circuits, panels, distribution, and code compliance), plant utilities (steam boilers, chillers, purified water, pumps/drives, boiler treatment), and cleanroom operations.
  • Experience with building automation systems.
  • In-depth knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety best practices.
  • Prior experience working with space flight hardware or in aerospace environments.
