Job Description:
L3Harris Technologies, Inc. is seeking a Specialist, Software Engineer with a desire to work in a cooperative team environment with cross functional teams to develop and verify embedded software applications through the entire software development life cycle. This position will utilize a strong base of engineering principles, theories and techniques and a passion for relevant new technologies. You and your team will be involved in every stage of the software development lifecycle, which encompasses refining specifications, implementing software, integration, debugging, and comprehensive documentation. This role involves working with Java, C#, and C++ in an object-oriented, multi-threaded environment, developing for emulators for embedded real-time systems, utilizing unit test frameworks, and employing software development tools.
Essential Functions:
- Design, document, develop, integrate, and test software for applications primarily using Java in accordance with the Software Development Process and coding standards and guidelines
- Develop controller emulator and associated GUIs
- Peer review software efforts including requirements development, software design/code reviews, algorithm architecture alignment reviews and software performance metrics
- Spearhead integration efforts/Bug fixes
- Advocate for Software in estimating efforts for programs’ basis of estimate (BOE) and executing awarded contracts
- Negotiate and provide program guidance on Software project schedule, financial and technical goals as assigned
- Ability to troubleshoot problems and perform root cause analysis.
- Utilize software engineering principles, processes, and industry best practices with the ability to apply them in daily work.
- Interact with Systems and cross functional teams on specifications/requirements in a collaborative team environment.
- Ability to communicate effectively with program team and stakeholders with regards to status, milestones, and risks.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Experience with Atlassian tool suite (Bitbucket, Jira and Confluence).
- Experience with C++
- Experience with Agile/Scrum Development
- Experience with DevOps development pipeline
- Experience with network programming / Wireshark
- 4+ years of experience in object-oriented programming, Java, C++, C#
- Experience generating and reviewing Software documentation
- Experience in multi-threaded development
