Job Description:
L3Harris is seeking a Lead Tool Design Engineer to join our growing facility in Camden, Arkansas. In this role, the selected individual will design manufacturing tooling for the production of solid fuel rocket motors and warheads. This person will develop jigs, fixtures, lifting devices, and semi-automated equipment to cast and assemble the final product.
Essential Functions:
- Design mechanical equipment using PTC Creo and Windchill
- Interface with production, program management and safety to develop requirements and tooling needs
- Define existing equipment problems, design repairs and modifications
- Ability to obtain a US security clearance
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 9 years of prior mechanical design engineering experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior mechanical design engineering experience experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior mechanical design engineering experience
- 7 years of experience in the design of tooling to support manufacturing
- 6 years of experience using a solid modeling program such as Unigraphics NX, Pro-Engineer, AutoCAD Inventor, Catia, CREO or Solid Works
Preferred Additional Qualifications:
- Experience working in the defense industry is a plus
- Knowledge of air controls is a plus
- Fabrication experience is a plus
